Oatmeal Bars – An easy-to-make basic recipe for oatmeal bars. – Shortening, Brown Sugar, Sugar ((granulated)), Eggs ((beaten well)), Vanilla Extract, Flour ((white, sifted)), Salt, Baking Soda, Oats ((quick-cooking)), Walnuts ((chopped, optional)), Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.; Cream shortening and sugars.; Add Eggs and vanilla.; Beat well.; Sift flour, salt and soda and add to creamed sugars.; Add oatmeal and nuts and mix well.; Spread evenly into a greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.; Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20 minutes.; While still warm, cut into squares and remove from pan.; – Enjoy!

- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Cup Sugar (granulated)
- 4 Eggs (beaten well)
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1-1/2 Cup Flour (white, sifted)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 2 Cups Oats (quick-cooking)
- 1/2 Cup Walnuts (chopped, optional)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cream shortening and sugars.
- Add Eggs and vanilla.
- Beat well.
- Sift flour, salt and soda and add to creamed sugars.
- Add oatmeal and nuts and mix well.
- Spread evenly into a greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20 minutes.
- While still warm, cut into squares and remove from pan.
